Let our licensed Danish guides introduce you to the charms of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale city. A must for every visitor giving you the essence of the local life, then and now. Walk with us through the old world atmosphere of crooked back streets, quaint buildings, alleyways and charming “hidden” squares, pass famous landmarks and important museums, enter churches and go into secret courtyards.
You will hear about the lifestyle of the locals, the famous Danes, past and present, and not least, about the poet and storyteller Hans Christian Andersen, who spent most of his life in the old town.
Although not born in Copenhagen he lived here 56 years as he came to the city at the age of 14 from Odense.
You will also hear of his extensive travel throughout Europe. Surprisingly, he was very modern person as he was the first Dane to ride a train, receive a telegram and was the most photographed person in the 1800’s in Denmark.
The tour can either start at the city hall and end at the harbour or in reverse order.
